Monitoring your position on the major search
engines each month allows you to take action when your listing starts to drop.
Search engine positioning
reports
If your site remains in
the search engine, after there has been a re-index or clear-out, your position
is bound to have moved.
Search engines regularly review the way they rank web sites. They do this by
re-indexing their entire database. If your web page is unavailable during the
re-indexing for any reason your site could be dropped from that search engine.
From time to time, search engines will also have clear-outs where they remove
the dead links within their listings.
